WILD, WONDERFUL AND WACKY

Seniors are sometimes creative about how we entertain ourselves.  I saw you grin, because you know it's true!  This year at Florida Grande Motor Coach Resort we have a couple of new ways to entertain ourselves, but one of my favorites is our new "Nature Trail" which winds around the back of the development in the shape of an isosceles triangle for about 2 1/2 miles.  While several residents enjoy walking the trail, most of us enjoy riding on a trailer with all types of wacky modifications that is being pulled by a tractor.  If I didn't know better, I'd think we had seen those chairs around the pool a couple of years ago.  At any rate, I don't know if I've ever been more comfortable being pulled by a tractor!

The  nature trail winds around close to the highway that enters Center Hill (formerly known as the "Green Bean Capital of the World"), and proceeds on what had been railroad tracks (now under consideration to be a trail head (Rails to Trails).  Time has all but forgotten the areas where beautiful century old oaks, Spanish moss and thousands of vines proliferate.  The space is vast, open and grand, and many signs lead you to the next destination.  The proposed world-class network would eventually stretch from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean.  When complete, Florida's Coast To Coast Connector Trail will span nine counties and be part of a network that links 250 miles of trails in the State of Florida.  The South Sumter Connector Trail connects the Withlacoochee State Trail to the west and General James A. Van Fleet to the east.  This ties together three counties: Sumter, Hernando and Pasco.  Florida Grande is pleased to support this project and would be most excited if the decision is made to include this beautiful part of Florida.

An old an abandoned railroad track is on our trail
We usually see eagles, hawks and signs there are other wild animals that inhabit the area. The day of our tour we saw a cow about to deliver a calf.  Sure enough, the next day the baby calf was with the mother and both seemed to be doing fine.
Come back tomorrow:  I'll have a surprise for you!
One thing for sure is that you wouldn't want to be driving the tractor.  We frequently encounter those huge spider webs that spread the entire length of the road.  Yes, they are beautiful, but  we wouldn't want to be the first to meet one as we drive through the middle of their webs.
Did we just see a huge spider in that web ahead??

An End To Another Perfect Day.

Now Marty. I will grant you that is a most unusual way to see a nature trail. The first such mode that I've seen.
Hope you two are doing well.
